Overview
The PADI Open Water Diving Course is divided into three sessions : academic. confined-water (pool), and open water training.
Academic training teaches you the basic principles and knowledge you need for safe and enjoyable diving. Academic training takes place as you use the PADI Open Water Diver Manual and attend classroom sessions enhanced with videos and slides.
Confined water training takes place in an indoor swimming pool and will teach you the basic skills of safe diving and practical use of scuba equipment.
Open Water Training allows you to demonstrate your mastery of these skills and practice them in a typical diving situation. The open water dives allow you to apply what you have learned during the knowledge development and skills development segments at an actual dive site.
Course Schedule
Academic Training takes place in Peacehaven, near Brighton, or at another convenient location. The academic sessions are divided into five modules. At the end of each, is a ten question multi choice mini quiz and a knowledge review, both of which have to be completed before proceeding to the next module.
Confined Training takes place at one of many pools in the Surrey & Sussex area. These are also divided into five modules, relating to the appropriate academic module. You will be using top quality diving equipment under full supervision from qualified diving Instructors and Divemasters to train you to gain complete mastery of the skills.
Open Water dives are conducted over a weekend or the minimum of 2 days consisting of 4 dives, 2 per day. The open water dives are normally conducted at inland sites or weather permitting at Brighton.
